Stage 1: Learn to Skate
Players learn the basics: how to dress, balance, and skating basics.  Once they are able to stand up after falling and they can move without a chair, they are able to move to Stage 2.

Stage 1 Equipment:  Helmet, roller blade knee and elbow pads, and gloves or mittens. (No hockey equipment required)  You are welcome to use our rental skates free of charge!

Classes:   1 - 50 minute class per week
Cost:  $125 per 10 week session

Stage 2: Learn to Play
This stage continues to work on the skating skills, but adds the basics of hockey:  Each 50 minute session ends with a cross ice game.  Players are taught the fundamental skating skills, including the stride, gliding, knee bends, backwards basics, and stopping.  Players are also taught fundamental hockey skills, including holding the stick and basic puck control skills.

Stage 2 Equipment: All hockey equipment except shoulder pads.   (Village Sports has limited sets of equipment which can be signed out).

Classes:    1 - 50 minute class per week
Cost:   $125 per 10 week session

Stage 3:  KHL  (Kids Hockey League)
The Grizzlies Kids Hockey League (KHL) is the top rated approach to teaching young players the great game of hockey.  Each session includes ½ hour of fun skill games and ½ hour of scrimmage.  A maximum of 14 players with 2 coaches insure low coach to player ratios and plenty of individual instruction.  Over 30 years of coaching youth hockey has gone into the development of the Grizzly KHL program.

Stage 3 Equipment: All hockey equipment except shoulder pads.   (Village Sports has limited sets of equipment which can be signed out).

Please note:  KHL participants must register with USA hockey and obtain a USA hockey number prior to completing the registration on the Grizzlies site.  For players born after 1/1/2004, there is no cost for the USA hockey registration.  USA registration is an annual process and is good for all hockey until Spring of 2011.  Click here to register for USA hockey.
